Deidre brings up the "Shopping List" in the comments which sounds like it might be related, but let us know if it doesn't match what you'd need/like! Not quite the same, but if you go into your crafting menu and right click on the schematic, it'll add it where you'd see your quest progress in the upper right of the screen. It'll show you what materials you need to make it. I know before crafting from storage, it showed if you had those mats in hand but I haven't tried since after.
Once you craft that thing, the "quest" is now complete and it is removed from the quest list
