Run into a few different items that have the exact same (if any) stats. Most notably "Vegetable (Onion) and Onion (Onion) both provide the exact same stats when used to cooked.
Onion (Onion) come from Grendel, Veegtable (Onion) come from POI. they give the same Seed (Onion)
Also have "Crude Gunpowder" I think from the grenade quest as well some crafted crude gunpowered, neither one has any stats though the crafted one has the crude property twice.
Finally there may be a difference in color if this is the case but predator/prey skins and pelts both have the exact same stats so if they do the same thing why not combine them into a single item?
