Unlock [recipe] by progressing in the Abeyance Realm?

In the Quest Book, when researching Essence Trader wares, if you drill into a recipe in the Traders Menu, you see the requirements for that recipe. You also see other similar recipes that are still unlocked. Clicking on an unlocked recipe displays: Unlock [recipe] by progressing in the Abeyance Realm. I find this message confusing. Can someone please explain it?
