The bosses like the Eldon Eton can start the fight with your character or follower from outside their area. It makes respawning and trying to get yourself prepped to go back into the fight almost impossible. Even if I am covered by the feature that turns me invisible for some time after a death, it does not carry to my follower so monsters attack them immediately. So I have no ability to recover.
