Remove FOMO

Cheers,

while it is undoubtable a functioning tool of online marketing, it is also a malicious practice in my opinion. What I am speaking about is FOMO and gating content behind time limited promotions, the good will of approved content creators handing out codes or being part of the content creator program in the first place or certain events.

It creates an unhealthy situation of haves and have nots, utterly disconnected from who likes or even loves your game and who does not. Simply because you missed out during that time for whatever reason. I do get that content creators receive items to skip the grind and actually produce content, I do not get that the intention is to have them be the vessel of handing out unique things.

Games like these live on the idea of immersion and expressing yourself. Be it how you build your base that you invested dozens of hours into or how you present yourself to other players. While it is partially a meme, the sentiment of "Fashion being the true endgame" holds quite some credibility and many players will just spend dozens of hours to farm the very materials to craft the new cool item set that you provided us with.

What will kill the motivation of many are the hoops to jump through to get those items. Be it a finished twitch campaign gating one of the coolest designst there is so far or the need to follow some content creator you may not even like just for the odd chance of getting a cool new dress, this is just kills the vibe.

The content of a game should be received by playing the game, not by being lucky or currently available while a timed event runs.

    I have different opinions...

    1) We talk about clothes, and these clothes have not the best values. You don't get an unique weapon with high values or something else. The clothes looks not very unique too. No, I haven't any problem with this.

    2) On the other side, I see only one challenge in the game, that could give some kind of unique reward, find all helo echos. All others? Kill 100 bounds, find 100 Einaidia, visit 10 fae towers or win 50 desert vaults? Do the same task over and over again is no challenge.

No, sorry it's okay for me.

There is not much in the way of FOMO for this game

Twitch drops: Some clothing and a dog with a hat.

    • Twitch clothing:

      • You get all of the recipes for the cloths you get from the twitch drop in game. You can make better versions of the same twitch dropped cloths in the game.

        • You do not even need the twitch drop to get the cloths. It just offered a helpful boost at the time for those who didn’t have them.

    • The pet dog:

      • You can get the dachshund by placing a dog bed from a recipe that you get in game.

      • You do not need the drop to get the dog. The twitch drop only adds a hat on the dog. That’s it.

As far as I am aware, there is no code that you can get that unlocks any recipe that you can’t get already inside the game. Anyone who offers a code for a recipe is likely lying/a scammer.

I have seen that I have to get a code from a random person who does not interest me to unlock a recipe

This reeks of scam. What recipe is being mentioned? As far as I am aware, there is no code that you can get that unlocks any recipe that you can’t already get while playing inside the game.

I have followed this game with great enthusiasm, but since I have seen that I have to get a code from a random person who does not interest me to unlock a recipe, the truth is that I have become quite discouraged, I have played all the updates, completed the event the first week and up to that point I am half happy because I have been able to be in those times of limited time recipes, but now it doesn't matter if I have played the game for 500 hours it depends on whether a random that I don't know at all gives me a code, in the end I'm mentally burning out trying to find a content creator and the only one I've found has ignored me, honestly if they don't change this I'm going to lose interest in the game

For the current event I would suggest they just re-run it periodically. This way you get the benefits of an event and mitigate the FOMO cause "it'll be back"

Scarbs has said publicly that this is not a limited run where the gear will no longer be available. The current plan is to have all event unlocks from essence buys be available through later events as well.

In short, I refuse to play games who rely on this. These outfits are fine for now and a little bit of limited availability is fine to help reward early access players. But after that, every outfit, tool, or anything else this game has to offer should be available within the game.

I don't use Twitch so I do kind of mind the "Twitch drops". Basically means I can't get them.

While the so-called "FOMO" stuff going on in Nightingale isn't NEARLY as bad as some others in Inflexion's industry, my suggestion is simply:

Just because everyone else does it, doesn't mean you should!

It's a REALLY bad look for Inflexion despite what your marketing department will say.

Support creators, but don't lock content from players. I don't mind twitch drops, as long as -everyone- can have the chance at them. But giving CC's specific loot just for themselves and their chosen few, no thank you.
