I have been playing with a higher difficulty (Realm Power at +20) so when I first journeyed to Sylvan's Cradle the realm power was 40. However, at some point when I was continuing the Main Story quests for Desma Valavani the level of the creatures I was facing dropped to 7. I didn't notice this immediately as I had been upgrading my gear steadily as I gained more Tier 2 essence. However, before returning to Desma having cleansed the Carnute and the Mushroom in the cave I noted that the game had become very easy and noted the level of my opponents was 7.
I returned to my Abeyance Realm and found that it was still at Realm Power 20. I then returned to the Crossways and closed and reopened the portal to Sylvan's Cradle. Adding the realm card the game stated Realm Power 40, but upon entering it states Realm Power 7 when I look at the map.

I checked the difficulty at one of the many beds in the settlement and noted it was now set to explorer. As I have a stinking cold it is possible that at some point I may have mis-clicked when using a bed and set the difficult to Explorer in this one Realm.
