The new glamor station permits completely hiding the hat but the hairstyle is tight to the head as if pushed down by a hat wrapped all around the head. I tested this with several hairstyles

I'm getting this too, and I really hope it's a bug and not intentional. It would suck to have to run around without a hat to enjoy your hairstyle.
I used the glamour to hide my hat and my hair is now smooshed down to my head and looks terrible. I have gone to the main menu to alter my hairstyle and every single hairstyle is smooshed as if I am still wearing a hat, it's just invisible.
The hidden hat glamour not only gave my character an entirely different hairstyle, but the back of his head was almost completely bald.
To clarify this some more.
When not wearing a hat, my hair is full.
When wearing a hat, it gets "pushed down" so to speak, where the hat would be.
However when glamouring the hat to be removed, the hair becomes completely pushed down and thinned.
