Deafeated boss at Magwytch site of power before getting quest. Climbing picks just make it too easy to get around places you're not supposed to get around.
Magwytch questline (atleast that i noticed) is vague, quests needed to open the site of power require you to do "side" quests for a main quest progression....
Keep in mind closing the portal and reopening, sleeping, or restarting the game does not respawn the boss.

| Steps to Reproduce | 1.Skip side quests -> Climb site of power -> enter boss room -> kill boss -> Realize you didnt progress quest and go back to do quests -> get quest to kill boss -> boss does not respawn |
Actually, sleeping does reset the boss. Make sure you sleep IN the Realm itself. I've personally used this trick to farm several bosses for their materials. My girlfriend, who is behind me in quests, shows up to my realms all the time and resets the boss so she can continue quest progression.
It will NOT work if you sleep in another realm as time doesn't pass in other realms. Hope this helps!
