I'm not sure if this is known by the developers or not, but there appears to be a cap on the number of infusions that can be applied to a piece of gear via augments.
Specifically:
I noticed this when I crafted some boots using an Excellent sewing bench.
4 Augments applied to an Excellent Sewing bench : - Refined Magick Augment (Crystal Ball) - Excellent Tailor Augment (Mangle Machine) - Excellent Explorer Augment (Globe) - Excellent Victorian Dandy Augment (Paper Press) All connected and showing up on the bench inspection.
So when crafted, it has:
Ice Resistance +++
Fire Resistance +++
Maleficium Resistance +++
Poison Resistance +++
Magick +++
Max Health +++
Max Stamina +++
Speed +++
Noticeably, it was missing the Stamina Regen +++ it should have received along with the Speed from the Globe Excellent Explorer Augment.
I retested this swapping out the Globe for the Shield (Excellent Berserker Augment), and the same thing happened, only this time it applied the Berserker buffs properly and removed the Magick +++ bonus being applied from the Paper Press (Victorian Dandy Augment).
In both cases I could still apply the extra infusion of my choice via the slot after crafting. So the cap seems to be 8 on augment bonuses only. Only really an issue when applying the Refined Magick Augment since it takes up 4 slots with resistance +++ bonuses.

Contrary to the other comment, I'm not sure we get the ":vanished" stats.
Was trying to craft a set, the magic resists bumped off the health boost from the expert tailor. Adding up the mat bonuses that should be on it, it's down by 30 health, so def missing the infusion. Yay wasting mats...

Seems to be a visual bug though, if you equip the item afterwards, you still get the stat boosts from these "vanished" infusions
Realm probably doesn't matter. I'm in Welkin's Reach and it does exactly the same
I also noticed that if you exceed 8 augment 'infusions', the preview of the crafted item and even the mouse-over while crafting do not match the final product
Just verified exactly this. Not sure if that's a bug or a design oversight but it defo needs to be clarified
