I am in the first area, Abeyance. I stopped at a flat beach to build my Estate Cairn, Stick Tent, Bedrool and Cooking Fire. I had to answer the door, when I returned I had died and was at Wilhelmina's Settlement. I was not allowed to return to my respite. After walking back, I could not distroy anything to rebuild, I could not interact with anything, and I could not build a new bed. I did build a new Cairn, which DID allow me to return as respite, but I still could not interact with Tent, Bed or fire.
I have been able to build and use a Stick Tent, Bedroll, and cooking Fire but they could not touch the sand. Is there some way to remove the first, non functioning Cairn, old Tent, bed and fire?
