I was crafting clothes at the sewing station with fabled hides. My storage was full, but I planned to move items to a basket once the crafting was fully underway. Unfortunately the newly created items did not stay with the bench as I was crafting new ones; they vanished, taking the crafting components with them. I wouldn't be bothered except I lost fabled hides.

I'm glad that your items appeared for you. If your inventory is full when you craft something new, that item will drop in the world and could clip through the floor or ground, or be picked up by your NPC follower, which can sometimes cause confusion, so it is worth checking around for dropped items!
The gear reappeared in my inventory about an hour later. Don’t know what happened, but I got my stuff
