Nightingale is a perfect game for mods. It is the exact kind of game where a healthy modding community would be huge. There are so many interesting systems that are ripe for modders to build upon and extend in creative ways. I can’t stop thinking of ideas for mods I want to make and see made - the game has crazy potential for modding in itself, but the potential is AOE and has the impactful side-effect of extending the game’s lifetime, broadening it’s reach, increasing the playerbase etc.
Your help could be in the form of simply declaring your stance on modding as one of support, but it could also be in the form of actively assisting the cause, if resources allow, obviously. I think this is ultimately worth the investment, because of course I do, but also because of it’s sheer potential and value it can return for players and the long-term health of the game. Introducing a separate mode for mods could be a way to actively support modding down the line, though I’m sure there are other, maybe less time and resource-intensive ways to further the cause in the short-term.
A tangent:
Currently, UE modding tool UE4SS and camera tool UUUv5 crash shortly after launch, when they are injected. The same is true for other tools.
When debugging, I see EAC is active at launch and appears to me to still be active in offline mode. If that is true, I suppose that could be causing the crashing, in which case, I’d love to be able to disable it. It could also simply be that you’ve made some changes to the engine that make these tools not able to find objects and hook functions at the typical offsets etc. resulting in crashing (though UE4SS does report that it finds all offsets before it crashes). I imagine you as devs might have a better idea as to why mod tools insta-crash the game.
Anyway, I’d love to hear from you and the community in general; what are your thoughts, considerations and approach towards the future of Nightingale modding?
I love the game, and want to see it thrive, now and in the future.
