Add More to Offerings

Hello! One thing I would like to see is more support for offerings. Right now, these are what I consider some of the issues (some of which are bugs already reported on this forum):


  • Offerings aren't returning the correct tier for the Realm that they're given in; the result is usually tier 1 (reported bug).

  • Offerings are always the same items, depending on some of the offered items. For example, giving meat to a Eoten will always get you Eoten Wood (and maybe a Heart if it's a ritual offering).

  • Very little lore exists for what offerings are accepted by what NPCs. Grendels, for example, don't seem to have any lore surrounding them for what offerings they would like.

  • There are only few types of NPCs that accept offerings. (As of this writing: Eoten, Automaton Bishops, Sun Giants, Grendels.)

What I personally would like to see for an expansion to this mechanic is along these lines:

  • Add Fae Offering sites. We see a lot of Fae structures with possible offerings left at them, but we as players can't add to that for rewards, such as Favour spawns, other buffs, Essence, and possibly rare resources.

  • Add Hope Echoes that talk about offerings made to various Realm Spirits and other entities. Grendel and Carnute lore would be two suggestions. We mostly have lore about Danu searching for the Song of the Grendels, but nothing about what Grendels appreciate.

  • Add more variety to offering rewards, including "bad" offerings that might get you attacked. For example, offering Automata parts to a Bishop probably doesn't speak well of your intentions behind the gift. Do some Eoten like Fish more than Meat? Do Sun Giants want crafted items and will give you other rewards (like Essence) as if they were buying it from you (similar reasoning applies to Bishops and Grendels here)?

  • Add rewards for giving Automata chests something. We know Automata are meant to be curating and/or rehabilitating certain realms (particularly Desert Realms), but the Automaton Chests don't really serve a function right now. What if instead, you could put items in the Automata chests and the Automata craft them into something else, like exclusive resources? For example, putting various resources into the chests and the nearby Rooks and Pawns come to the chest and transmute them into Automata parts of the same classification (at which point the chest despawns so you have to explore and look for another).

  • Add Offering/Ritual POIs. These would be comparable to an Aid POI, but the resources required would be much more varied. Players would basically have to prepare for the ritual involved (a procedurally generated, multistep process, which could include killing a wave of Bound) and get a large Essence reward.
