Change hotbar so slots aren't dedicated to main hand/offhand
I hardly ever use the different food slots (eat food directly from inventory) and am frequently having to juggle tools around to fit in the tools/weapons half of the hotbar. I have no need to wield a veggie wrap in my offhand. Can we get a single unified hotbar that is not so awkward to use?

By the time I have an umbrella, lantern, grenades/knives and/or combat useful potions, I tend to use them all, and I like the split for other functionality (like scrolling for main hand and alt+scrolling for off hand instead of having to use number keys). My playstyle isn't everyone's - but a customizable split would let people who don't use offhands get more use out of their main without sacrificing other ways to switch weapons.
personally, I wouldn't like it if the split went away. After some discussion and thought, I had suggested a customizable split instead (posted here: https://playnightingale.ideas.aha.io/ideas/FEEDBACK-I-257)
