Winter Holiday Update 2024

Thoughts on the new update…. MAGNIFICENT!!!! First, the Winter Holiday Event is magical. I really love the Cozy Winter card. The decorations are really nice around the homestead. And, coffee and pie are my favorite holiday foods. The Winter Child clothing set is really beautiful. So, KUDOS to the design team. Second. Augmentations. Great job on updating the way crafting stations interact with the augmentations. It only took me seconds to figure out how to add them to the station. And, we don’t have to have to segregate the stations to keep wayward augments from taking over a slot. Well Done. Third. NPC interaction. I haven’t recruited more than one NPC so far, but I do plan to in the near future. I am in the process of building homes for them. But, I do like the new menus for them. Fourth. The new building GUI is so much easier to navigate. I especially like that the items are grouped by the different tier levels. I haven’t tried the production stations yet. Again, I’m working on a plan to add the NPCs and what their tasks will be. I want it to be orderly and efficient.

I think this is my first Inflexion game. But, I’ve had such a positive experience with this Early Access process that I am looking forward to any game developments you have in the future as well as continuing to love and support this game. Thank you so much for all the hours of fun and excitement. I know I’m being a bit of a fan girl, but I haven’t had a game this aesthetically beautiful that had an interesting story since the Myst games, and more recently, Firmament. This game is just as beautiful and creative of the giants that came before you.

I’m really excited by each new update and look forward to seeing everyone in Nightingale!!

Agree. There are lots of fun additions, and the best are the Wintery cards. They are simply beautiful, and I appreciate how the layer of snow interacts with all objects ( a few roof sections are a bit dodgy but Im happy to not look at those bits too closely). Having snow is just lovely, and living in a very dry, hot country, I like the opportunity to escape our weather and cool down with some faux snow. Also, the lore has been teasing us with snow since the beginning, so please, bring it on!

My favourite change however is the overhaul of the build menu. It means relearning a few controls, but I do like how items are now sorted. BUT, the best thing by far is how augmentations are now listed and so much easier to manage. Before, we had to run backwards and forwards, moving objects in and out the house, and trying to guess ( and hop in and out of menus to see) which object gave which augment, and which gave the highest level. Its now easier, as we can sort via level and now we can see the name of which object gives each augment. Lovely!

This augmentation help makes the building system a little more transparent. Nightingale has (imo) the best/funnest crafting system out of all games Ive ever played. I thoroughly enjoy collecting and storing materials (like a true packrat) and then when crafting, choosing the set of materials to give the best attributes. Its a really fulfilling activity, especially if you compete with a friend to see who can build a bow with the best ranged damage and crits (for example) and you compare all mats and bench attributes and try to hone it. Very much fun!

Nicely, I already had a site picked out to build a village, using the procedural roads on one of my realms. Now it can be done, and I have a plan to use the new stations and populate a town. I will always advocate that a game needs to be well written and have great quests and gameplay, but the building and modding community is the gateway to long term love.

There are bugs. It happens. I reported the ones I found. In all confidence they will be fixed over time. Thats what we are all here for.

I very much appreciate the work put into this by the team. Well done. Nightingale is a gorgeous game.
