One of the most difficult aspects of the game happens to be the toolbar. This is a small-hands issue, but I've played with other players who also are used to this QoL in other games.
When a player has several tools in the bar, it seems unnecessary to have them all equipped to the hot-keys. Likewise, it would minimize the number of items to switch back and forth with if when approaching a harvestable item such as a tree, the system automatically switches to that necessary tool or tells the player they require a certain tool to harvest.
Example:
Player approaches stone and harvests > Player automatically switches to the tool to complete harvest>Player presses any of the bound keys to switch back to their main weapon
Player approaches a new tree and attempts to harvest > Player is warned they do not have the appropriate tool > Player does not switch from their main gear
Player has killed a Bear > Approaches bear and hits an interactive key > (E or F?) > Player switches to their skinning knife and proceeds to gain hides via Right Mouse Key press
The button to harvest should be different from basic attacks simply to avoid overlap or accidents during combat.
