After playing 0.51 one thing that stood out for me and somewhat left a bitter aftertaste was the "dumbed down" realm tier and difficulty selection.
It is great that we can choose difficulty seperately from the realm tier, however removing the ability to influence the realm tier altogether is rather limiting, options and choices keep people busy after all.
What I suggest would be to have a seperate dropdown menu in the realm creation that allows you to pick the realm tier for the card played, now this would do two things, it would make sure that low tier materials would stay accessible,and would allow higher tier versions of materials you get only in certain storied realms (Jabberwock, Yex, etc. more on those in a bit)
Secondly it would allow for realm cards to be future proof in the event that new realm types or tiers get added, instead of having an entirely new set, you could easily streamline the whole system by having one set of cards for all purposes.
How would this work?
Well that is easily explained, instead of playing an Astrolabe or Astrolabe Ascended for example, we'd just pick the astrolabe realm and choose the highest tier we have been to. then on the other dropdown menu we'd select the enemy difficulty from explorer to nightmare like it is currently.
This also means that you have to rely on the fixed storied realms to unlock the Tiers first, since you can only visit a realm tier that you have been to before.
So to head to a T3 Desert you would need to have been to a T3 Realm before for Ascended you would need to have unlocked those too for example.
What about Storied Realm bosses you ask, well I have a solution for that too, behold, Remembrance Vaults:
Remembrance Vaults are a special type of Vault that can be Forest, Desert, Swamp or anything we might get in the future.
Since story bosses are heavily tied to the lore and story it would not make sense to make them appear in regular vaults, so what this would do is create a memory realm of sorts that would take one of the bosses and have them appear at the end of the vault as the boss, possibly with new moves in their arsenal to make life hell for us.
Those Remembrance vaults would allow us to get higher tier materials of the bosses we already fought before without interrupting the immersion of the story since after all it is us tapping into a memory.
