Throughout History melting down ingots and combining ingots to get the benefits of another (making alloys) we already have this yes with bronze and brass but in the words of great halbrand himself "Why not combine it" we in a technical sense should be able to combine different ingots to make different types of alloys, you could call this Alloy Ingots in the Forgery and allow us to combine 2 different ingots together to make alloy ingots that we can craft with.
another thing, it as also been throughout history that you can melt down metallic items and reuse those metals or use a mold and turn them into an Almost pure ingot of its original state, You could implement this back with the Reclaiming ingots but have it where it takes idk 10% of the already given stats off for reclaiming it and the way it could work in lore is that we lose some of the stats due to the impurity of the ingot from reprocessing it down to its original state, which in theory and actual History its a true factor as Slag gets created when you break metals down so having this feature back in the game would be nice even if it was to give us a Debuff at the start(that if you used that ingot and turned it into an alloy, you could still fix what you lost so it works out in the end and nullifies itself with the debuff and having alloy ingots).
This also opens up a broader range of options for classes and designs and with Proper design and attention to detail when coding i believe it won't be as broken as the Original Reclaiming ingots was back in Pre-realms rebuilt when the stat stacking was a crisis.
A large reason i would like to reclaim ingots is due to the large majority of Metal items you can find in the game that you can't break down due to finding them already made like that(E.G a lot of the artisan pick heads and axe heads, Hilts, blades from bounds and not to mention the plates and gears you find and gather off the rooks), and idk about other people but im the kind of person where i prefer to make my own stuff so i can control the stats that are being put into it, not really use the stuff i find on the ground.
if a builder is building a house and he runs out of nails but finds an old rusty crooked nail on the ground.. is he going to use that nail or go out and buy some new ones? his going to buy some new ones if he really cares about building his house, Similar logic applies when building gear, are you going to make your own when you should be at a point where you can make this gear yourself? or use the stuff you find around the map that may and will have lower stats then the gear you can craft yourself..
theirs a limitation to what you can and cannot do in the game since it came out and though you have increased our build limits it feels like you guys went 2 steps forward one step back in a lot of ways, the biggest way i can see is with taking out the reclaiming ingots, cause you essentially did Nothing really by increasing our build limits besides making it to where now we need larger storage rooms or choose not to farm every item/mob in the game where as before Realms rebuilt, storage management was a lot more easier(taking aside the fact that a lot was broken back then with the reclaiming and combining of ingots) being able to manage storage was a lot better back then, if i was running out of space in a my storage room cause i have half a dozen metal mats that i don't need anymore cause i was farming mobs/farming vaults or i was breaking and rebuilding stuff and making new items i could just melt them down into ingots and throw them into ingot chests instead of needing to make half a dozen chests for different things items, With the different tiers in items aswell it means that a lot of the more 'Hardcore' storage fans will be making a chest for each tier of each different item, so if you can imagine it, if you have 5 tiers of that one wood type in the forest, they will have 5 chests just for the different tiers of that forest wood, then another 5 chests for each tier of forest Fiber, Meat and so forth, so by the end of it, most of our build requirements are going to storage rather then actual building....
i hope you guys can see where im coming from and see my invisonary of how these methords can be implemented, and with a Proper stat checker with a stat limiter that checks how high a stat is and if it goes past say you set the max at 100% for all stats and my rifle damage goes to %120, when i craft the ingot it will drop to %100 because of that Stat checker that keeps my stats inside that Max/Min Stat limiter.
