Fae portals in the Realms should open to random realms and have no human devices

It doesn't seem to make sense that the big stone fae portals have human devices and do not function without cards.

• why would human card travel devices be attached to fae portals in every random realm?

• humans lost in the realms after the mist engulfs earth are somehow still travelling the realms, e.g., Bass Reeves and the thief he is after. How are they doing this? Does everyone know how to make travel cards or make their own self-powering portal despite having no resources? Is the player the only one who can't do this?

Additionally, instead of Bound just randomly spawning around the map at night, maybe they can emerge from these portals at night and roam the map, accompanied by a deadly mist to ensure that their spawn point can't be camped by players. Otherwise, how are the bound just appearing? Can they all teleport? Do they simply manifest from nothing?
