Occasionally there is a minor realm card (Hunter Eminent) which prevents normal damage but causes increased critical damage played during a Boss Rush wave. However, there is at least one boss (Bound Helmsman Sentinel) who does not have a perceptible weakpoint. As a result, the boss cannot take damage from the player. I ignored it at first and just restarted from wave 1, but it's happened enough times to really become an annoyance as the wave(s) become impassable.
