To achieve a dormered effect I atempted to join these 2 intersecting perpendicular peaked roofs, but there is no 4-way piece that will do this smoothly with a 'clean' look from the outside.
The closest that can be achieved is to gable end two of the peaked roofs and join the others; however, you cannot add the central peaked roof unless you add a wall to support it. I would request that there be a 4-way peaked roofs for any tileset that includes the peaked roof, and also the allowance of pillars to support roofs, so that additional walls are not needed for these central pieces.

My first thought was the inverted roof corner, have you tried that? It looks like you should have enough space for one on each corner.
Heartily agree! Roof shapes need a bit of work. The existing ones are hard to wrap my head around sometimes, too, until I build them and see how freaky they look and don't fit right. -_-
