I also fully agree with this, bags should most definately provide more slots. It is soo vital for being able to resource farm and explore.
To also add to and agree with what another user suggested as well, having equipped clothing no longer taking up inventory slots would be a massive improvement.
And logically... If you were wearing clothes or holding an axe. It wouldn't also then be still taking up room inside your backpack you know?
Wearables also already have their own slots vertically, making it not only redundant but also really eating into the limited amount of available slots for both player and companion npc. That's two to 3 full rows of just wearables and equipped gear... that's essentially almost half the inventory right there on our npc.
Thats also not including any other survival needs we may also need to carry or have our npc carry for us. And with so many varieties of resource items taking up different slots per quality and type, those very few available slots get filled very quick.
Another suggestion could be to implement the already compartmentalized ui sections into actual seperate bags, thus giving more slots and available spaces And making it genrally easier to manage inventory space when out farming, exploring. Carry weight could still be a factor, but at least it gives players the ability to better farm resources without having to share that space with everything they are wearing, and using as well .
Connected to the topic of hiding equipment, I would like to see at least the tools and clothes that NPCs are equipped with disappear from the inventory slots.
The benefit of not having a weight limit is great, so it would be just fine if the extra slots for equipment were free.
Survivor already has infinite carry weight making them stupidly good for transporting things + there's the Pepys Box, don't really see a need for it tbh.
I would be happy with this, as long as the starting amount of slots is reduced appropriately. Let it scale upward, since they have basic infinite weight. So smaller slots to start, and more later over time with better quality packs.
I like the suggestion of equipping NPCs with bags to increase their inventory slots. However, I also have concerns about the server load that this would cause. While I am not a developer, I suspect that this would create an unnecessary server load, which may explain why NPCs do not have the same 75 slots that players do.
100%. Doesn't even need to be a crazy amount like 2/3 each upgrade or something but since they have infinite weight there needs to be a reason to upgrade their backpacks!

I upvoted this because I think this is a cool idea. But also: Pepys Boxes exist.
something along the lines of 1 slot per X carry weight the bag adds would be nice to see...

More slots, yes, please, but also: infinite weight is just silly.
