Snap to Grid for Objects with Toggle

A lot of time is spent fine-tuning the placement of items so that they line up neatly. As there is currently no free flying viewpoint to assist when building or placing items, some form of snapping that can be enabled or disabled would be useful for containers in particular.

If a chest or toolbox, etc. had a snap to point placed in the exact middle of each face on the outermost surface, that would allow us to place on box or chest the way we want it and then simply have additional boxes snap to each other so that they line up neatly.

This would also be usable for objects that are not cubic, such as pots be placing an outer invisible cube around the object so that you could line up a grid of 5 x 5 planting pots.

By making this behavior a toggle that can be enabled/disabled, you give the player more agency/choice in placement.

At a later point, models of shelves etc. could have similar snap points added so that container or objects can snap into position.

In almost every survival style game, the true end-game is fashion. There are a lot of us who build and rebuild houses, towns, villages until we achieve our desired aesthetic.

The choice of snap or not is nice but having it to a smaller grid placement pending foundation is okay. The wall or ceiling of no longer snapping and lining up is not easy to do but possible if you eye the patterns and angles. Just keeping things in blueprint mode before adding materials helps as well. The idea is nice but the issue is the engine being used, does not always allow for such things.
      Still give a thumbs up
