Community Generated Content

Just read the transcript for the November Developer Q&A. I really appreciate the devs holding this event and posting the transcript, it was a good read, thank you. Meaningful communication is important for community health.

If I would've been in attendance, and to the devs who might be reading, I'd like to ask about 'community generated content'. I know this is another huge topic and not something that can be easily defined but i'll use Skyrim as an example. It's a common sentiment among gamers that the behemoth of Skyrim as we know it wouldn't exist if it weren't for mods. I'm using mods as a quick example of 'community generated content' but acknowledge community content isn't confined to just mods/modding.

With this said, is there any discussion about the creation and dissemination of community generated content and the tools/platform to do such? Is there a future Nightingale where creators are crafting their own curated pocket realms? Expanding the universe of Nightingale with player created garden worlds and ancient maze puzzles and then sharing them in an ever expanding fae library for other realm walkers to test; possibly in tandem with current development? Is there a future where we aren't just walking the realms, we are rewriting them?

I say this knowing Nightingale's team is dedicated, as are it's realm walkers,

And I theorize that if we had the tools to do more... some of us would....

Whether this would ease burdens or create more, I do not know. Regardless,

Best Tidings and Safe Travels to All

I know this would be a huge endeavor, but my hope is that the community will start generating content that helps relieve some pressure on the dev team while they continue working. So many sandbox-type games have flourished on the community content, and I could see that for Nightingale. I've seen characters dripping with swag running through the Watch and amazing builds being shared online. I could imagine a weekly rotating portal in the watch that leads to a showcased pocket realm encouraging walkers to explore a player-built world. One week it could be something small and cozy like a shooting range/gallery, another could be a treasure hunt on floating islands. During the Q&A they mentioned they wanted to focus on building and combat and I feel this proposal could land right in the center of the building conversation.

I think that there was some mention of mods in the livechat just before realms rebuilt went live, it seemed like something that the devs were interested in working on at some point. I agree though, we love posting out homes and creations, being able to create and chare content in the form of dungeons or unique worlds would be wonderful.
