Also out-dated is the question of getting automaton gems/gears from "old stashes left about." The type that he wants do not appear in POIs and other ground spawns, or if they do they are very rare. The only way to acquire them is to kill rooks, or stand by as Bound kill them for you. There should be a more viable peaceful route.
